NFC: make a deliberate tap part of the workflow.
Near Field Communication (NFC) supports a close-range tap between a reader and a compatible tag or device. It is useful when a person should confirm one item or action at a specific point.

A deliberate item check, equipment handover, or checkpoint where a person can bring a compatible device close to a tag.
Tag and reader compatibility, the application that records the tap, credential security, and what happens when a tap cannot be completed.
Barcode can be simpler for printed codes; UHF RFID suits many tagged items read in a planned zone without individual taps.
A compatible reader or phone can read an NFC tag at close range; an application can then associate that tap with an item, user, place, and time. The tap itself does not prove identity or grant access—those decisions need a properly designed system. Reader, tag, app, and integration options must be confirmed per project.
Compare RFID for bulk reads and Barcode for visible printed codes. For doors, see Access Control; credential technology is selected for the site, not assumed from this guide.
Tell us who taps what, at which checkpoint, and what record or decision the tap should create.
